International Girl Child Day was celebrated by the Literary Club in the five schools of Innocent Hearts  (Green Model Town, Loharan, Cantt.- Jandiala Road, Royal World and Kapurthala Road).

Jalandhar, October 11, 2022: International Girl Child Day was celebrated by the Literary Club in the five schools of Innocent Hearts  (Green Model Town, Loharan, Cantt.- Jandiala Road, Royal World and Kapurthala Road).  Under this, an inter-house competition was organized for the students of class VIII on  ' Famous Female Personalities', in which the students presented a wonderful example of women empowerment by performing various famous women.  The confidence of the girl students was built up while modelling. The students enacted as  Mary Kom , Indira Gandhi and  Rani of Jhansi.  The students danced to the patriotic song 'Teri Mitti Mein Mil Jawan'.  Teresa House (Green Model Town), Nehru House (Loharan), Nehru House (Cantt- Jandiala Road), Nehru House (Royal World) and Tagore House (Kapurthala Road) stood first in this competition. The NSS unit of Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar also celebrated International Girl Child Day to advocate the notion that girls are no less than boys in all walks of life and to find solutions to gender inequality.

Visits were conducted to Women centres and 'Unique Home - abandoned Girls'  Orphanage'which is not only an orphanage but a campaign against female foeticide.  At the Mahila Kendras, speeches were delivered by NSS volunteers on topics related to the achievements of great Indian women – Mary Kom, Kalpana Chawla, Sunita Williams, Mother Teresa and many more to bring out the hidden inner strength in every woman.  Various learning strategies were discussed at Unique Home, Jalandhar for equipping young girls with qualitative education and for making their future bright.

Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh said that the college has a 'Grievance Cell' and a 'Guidance and Counselling Cell' which help women to solve their problems so that they can lead a peaceful and dignified life.

Shally Bowry (Executive Director, Schools) said that in today's era,  daughters are giving a new flight to their dreams. The society's contribution is must to take this flight of the girl child to heights. It is important so that the daughter can get proper respect in society.
