INDUSTRIALISTS SENSITISED ABOUT INDUSTRIAL & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT POLICY OF PUNJAB GOVT
Ludhiana, January 18, 2019: To ensure that the city industrialists are sensitised about various schemes of the Punjab government, an awareness workshop was organised at Bachat Bhawan, here today, which was chaired by Director of Industries & Commerce Punjab Mr DPS Kharbanda. A large number of industrialists from different industrial associations participated in this workshop. While addressing the industrialists, Mr DPS Kharbanda stated that the main aim of the Punjab government is to provide an atmosphere where ease of doing business is the main priority. He said that the Industrial and Business Development Policy of the state government has been framed after several deliberations with all stakeholders so that the industrialists can avail full benefits of the policies. Mr Kharbanda urged the industrialists to read this policy thoroughly and share the important aspects of this policy with their staff as well. He informed that several policies for the welfare of industry have been framed by the government and assured that there is no shortage of funds when it comes to boosting industrial growth in Punjab. He urged the industrialists to take full advantage of the policies of the government. Mr DPS Kharbanda informed that earlier, the Deputy Commissioners had the powers of sanctioning projects of up to Rs 1 crore, but very soon, they would have powers to clear projects worth up to Rs 10 crore. He said that once it is introduced, several projects that were earlier cleared at the headquarter level would be cleared at district level only. He said that an awareness workshop for all 22 Deputy Commissioners of the state would be organised on January 21, 2019 at Punjab Bhawan, Chandigarh, that would be chaired by Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh and presided over by Chief Secretary Mr Karan Avtar Singh. He said that during this workshop, the Deputy Commissioners would be made aware about the Industrial and Business Development Policy of the state government. He said that for the benefit of sick units, the Punjab State Industrial Development Corporation and Punjab Financial Corporation have come up with a One Time Settlement (OTS) policy, under which the industrial units can apply till March 31, 2019. He said that till date, around 200 industrialists have already applied. Mr Kharbanda informed that such awareness workshops would be organised in all districts of the state so that the industrialists are made aware about the Industrial and Business Development Policy of the state government. GMDIC Mr Mahesh Khanna informed that a District Delayed Payment Committee has been formed in Ludhiana, with Deputy Commissioner as Chairman. He said that all disputes related to delayed payments are put up in this Committee and till date, 38 cases have already been resolved, while around 200 more are in pipeline. During the today’s workshop, the industrialists were sensitised about Industrial and Business Development Policy-2017, Business First Portal, Ease of doing Business, Zero Effect Zero Defect (ZED), Punjab Skill Development Mission and Ghar-Ghar Rozgar. Prominent among those present on the occasion included Mr SM Goyal, Additional Director, Department of Industries & Commerce, Punjab, Mr Navinder Sharma from NIC, Mr Abhishek Puri from consultant agency KPMG, Mr Ashok Prashar, consultant, besides representatives from industrial organisations such as UCPMA, CICU, FICO, Knitwear Club, Fastners Association, Machine Tools Association, besides several others.
