Induction programme for sensitization of students 

Chandigarh, October 4, 2023: Department of Geology in collaboration with Central Placement cell, Panjab University, Chandigarh organised an induction programme for sensitization of students in the Seminar hall of Dept. of Geology.

Professor Ganga Ram Chaudhary introduced various activities, which was organised by the Central Placement Cell for placement of students in various fields. Sanjay Sabharwal (Mining Engineer, Dept. of Mines and Geology, Haryana) was invited speaker for the event. Sanjay gave the lecture on “Opportunities for Geologists in mining and related sectors”.

Sanjay sensitized the students about the various opportunities in the mining and beyond mining sector at National and International level. He also enlightened students giving overview of mining industry and its significance in global economy, various roles of Geologists in mining (exploration, resource management and environmental impact assessment).

The programme was presided by Prof. Ashu Khosla, Chairperson Dept. of Geology and Dr. Mahesh Thakur, Placement Cell Officer Dept. of Geology, Panjab University, Chandigarh. Prof. Ashu Khosla felicitated Sanjay Sabharwal for his presentation and the Sensitisation programme, finally towards the end interactive session with the students was held in which students asked multiple questions regarding the scope of Geology in various fields. The session concluded with vote of thanks from Dr. Mahesh Thakur.
