Highlighting the significance of the Indian Knowledge Tradition within the context of the scientific realm, a seminar was organized at MDU under the joint aegis of the Department of Chemistry and Vijnana Bharati, Haryana.
Rohtak, May 31, 2026: Highlighting the significance of the Indian Knowledge Tradition within the context of the scientific realm, a seminar was organized at MDU under the joint aegis of the Department of Chemistry and Vijnana Bharati, Haryana.
Calling for the integration of scientific research with innovation, MDU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Milap Punia stated that the Indian Knowledge Tradition makes a unique contribution to science, innovation, and nation-building. He remarked that the values of environmental conservation enshrined in our ancient texts can offer practical solutions to today's global crises.
The Vice-Chancellor asserted that India's ancient knowledge tradition has always been scientific and in harmony with nature. Drawing inspiration from this rich heritage, a new direction can be provided to the country's infrastructure and Smart City development initiatives. In light of global environmental challenges, he emphasized the need for scientists and chemists to undertake scientific work focused on achieving 'Net Zero Emissions.'
He also advocated for research and innovation to facilitate effective interventions in stubble management—a critical issue in agrarian states such as Haryana. He added that, in the future, MDU would place a special focus on innovation, smart learning, and entrepreneurship.
Prof. Tripta Thakur, Vice-Chancellor of VMSB Uttarakhand Technical University, Dehradun, stated that drawing inspiration from the Indian Knowledge Tradition to pave the way for national development is the need of the hour. In this regard, she placed special emphasis on the optimal utilization of human resources. She further noted that, for India's economic growth, it is essential to pay special attention to the manufacturing sector.
MDU Registrar Prof. Sandeep Bansal described the Indian Knowledge Tradition as an integral part of India's rich heritage and extended his best wishes for the success of the seminar. Prof. Devender Singh, Head of the Department of Chemistry, delivered the welcome address and provided the background context for the workshop. The proceedings were anchored by Dr. Sangeeta.
Prof. B.R. Kamboj, Vice-Chancellor of CCS HAU, Hisar, attended the event as a distinguished guest. Dr. Pratap Singh, ‘Prant Sanghchalak’ of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), also participated in the program. The workshop was attended by Dean CDC Prof. Rajesh Punia, Professors - Prof. Preeti Boora, Prof. Hariom, and Prof. Naveen Kumar, along with faculty members and research scholars from various universities across Haryana, and Organizing Secretary Akash Pandey.
