Inauguration of Special Exhibition of Artwork of Dr. Mark Cottle 

Chandigarh, March 13, 2024: The Department of Gandhian & Peace Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh organised the Inauguration of the Special Exhibition of Artwork of Dr. Mark Cottle at the Gandhi Bhawan. 

Dr. Mark Cottle is an Associate Professor, Director, Architecture Undergraduate International Studio, School of Architecture, College of Design, Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, Georgia, USA. The Art Installation which was inaugurated had artworks fashioned from the single-use plastic shopping bags – collected, conserved and kept from the rubbish bin. Each bag, according to Dr. Cottle, indexes a transaction, the tangible residue of goods consumed. It took him several months to collect and preserve these bags and finally took six months to complete his work. These artworks will be displayed at Gandhi Bhawan for two weeks from March 12- 22.

Dr. Cottle delivered a special lecture after the inauguration on “SHADOW STRUCTURES” with the help of various slides on theme of painting. He emphasised on and conveyed to the audience how to chase dreams by understanding the importance of the dark and the light and the distinction between them.
