Inauguration of New Air Conditioner Held During the Welcome Ceremony of New Students in Boys Hostel No. 4 of PU
On the occasion of the Foundation Day of Panjab University, Chandigarh, a welcome ceremony, ‘Aarambh’, was organised today for the new students in Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Boys Hostel No. 4.

Chandigarh, October 14, 2025: On the occasion of the Foundation Day of Panjab University, Chandigarh, a welcome ceremony, ‘Aarambh’, was organised today for the new students in Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Boys Hostel No. 4.
On this occasion, a new air conditioner was inaugurated in the hostel dining area, donated by a former alumnus of the hostel and former student of PU, Mr Dewan Bal Krishan, who was also the chief guest of the programme. Among the distinguished guests present were Prof Y P Verma, Registrar, Panjab University; Prof Amit Chauhan, Dean Student Welfare; Prof Namita Gupta, Dean Student Welfare (Women); Prof Naresh Kumar, Associate Dean Student Welfare; Prof Promila Pathak, Former Dean Student Welfare (Women); Prof Rajat Sandhir; and other dignitaries.
The programme was conducted by hostel resident Sartaj Singh. Hostel Warden Dr Naveen Kumar welcomed all the guests and expressed special thanks to the chief guest, Dewan Bal Krishan. He informed the audience that the air conditioner had been installed in the hostel mess so that students would not face any inconvenience during the summer season while having their meals.
In his address, chief guest Dewan Bal Krishan said that the hostel is closely connected with the memories of his life. He stated that it was here he not only received his education but also learned the values of life. He expressed his wish that new students should move ahead in life by walking on the path of truth, hard work and honesty. He emphasised that there is no shortcut to success; only the right direction and continuous effort can take a person to great heights. While inspiring the new students, he added that university life is not only for academic development but also an opportunity for personality development.
At the end of the programme, Hostel Warden Dr Naveen Kumar thanked all the guests and expressed the hope that the hostel students will always keep alive the spirit of ‘Aarambh’ in their lives.
