DMC&H is run by a Managing Society whose strong support, along with generous contributions from organisations and members of the public, allows it to serve the community as a charitable institution.
Dayanand Medical College & Hospital (DMC&H), Ludhiana has announced a scholarship programme worth over 6 crores for the academic year 2025–26 to promote and nurture inclusive and merit-based medical education in Punjab. This first-of-a-kind initiative by a private medical institution in the state aims to make medical education more accessible to those who are deserving but without the necessary means. The scholarships reinforce DMC&H’s mission to support community healthcare by building a strong pipeline of healthcare professionals.
The DMC&H Managing Society will award over five dozen scholarships across several distinct categories. These are aimed at meritorious, economically challenged and deserving students pursuing MBBS, BSc Nursing and Paramedical courses. They are also aimed at the families of defence personnel. The scholarships seek to promote access to quality medical education and inspire academic excellence.
Outlining the rationale behind the scholarships, Sunil Kant Munjal, President of the DMC&H Managing Society said, “Education is a powerful equaliser and at DMC&H we believe that financial constraints should not keep deserving students from fulfilling their dreams. For many decades we have been providing quality medical care at affordable prices to a wide section of society; this initiative fits well with our vision for inclusivity and also helps create an opportunity for those who otherwise may not have a chance.”
There will also be multiple recognitions and prizes for existing students of DMC&H based on academics, sports, etc. For MBBS aspirants, the merit-based category will offer 3 full course scholarships, including hostel fees, among the top 10 Punjab NEET rank holders and 5 partial scholarships for NEET ranks upto 25 in Punjab. The means-based category (12 scholarships) will support students whose parental income is less than a particular threshold, with scholarships ranging from full to partial tuition including hostel fee coverage. A special provision has also been made for the children of those serving the Indian Armed Forces (Army, Air Force and Navy). The BSc Nursing programme also receives a major boost, with 10 full scholarships and 20 half scholarships for deserving students, based on merit. For those pursuing BSc and Diploma paramedical courses, 8 scholarships, both full and partial, will be offered to economically constrained candidates.
