Over 500 students, doctors, faculty members and staff participate in grand Tiranga Yatra at UHSR
A vibrant display of patriotism was witnessed at Pt. Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences (UHSR), Rohtak, on Thursday ahead of Independence Day, as more than 500 students, doctors, professors and employees participated in a grand Tiranga Yatra.

Rohtak, August 13, 2026: A vibrant display of patriotism was witnessed at Pt. Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences (UHSR), Rohtak, on Thursday ahead of Independence Day, as more than 500 students, doctors, professors and employees participated in a grand Tiranga Yatra.
Led by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. H.K. Aggarwal, the yatra began from Sushruta Auditorium and culminated at Medical Mor. Participants carried the national flag and raised spirited slogans of Vande Mataram and Bharat Mata Ki Jai, filling the university campus with patriotic fervour.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Aggarwal said, “The Tricolour is our soul, and protecting its honour, dignity and pride is our duty.” He urged students to remember the sacrifices of freedom fighters and pledge themselves to strengthening the unity and integrity of the nation. He said today’s youth would lay the foundation of a developed India by 2047 and should make national service an integral part of their lives along with education.
Registrar Dr. Roop Singh said the pain of Partition reminds the nation of the importance of unity. Students from different states and communities study together at PGIMS and dedicate themselves to serving the nation, reflecting the strength of India’s unity in diversity.
Dean Students’ Welfare Dr. Savita Singhal said the yatra was organised to strengthen the spirit of patriotism and national unity among students. BDS student Komal said participating in the yatra with the Tricolour in hand was a matter of pride and inspired her to serve the nation alongside patients after becoming a doctor.
Dr. Manjunath B.C., In-charge of the Public Relations Department, further energised the atmosphere with patriotic slogans.
Local residents and shopkeepers along the route welcomed the participants. Dean Dr. Ashok Chauhan, Medical Superintendent Dr. Kundan Mittal, Dean Academic Affairs Dr. M.G. Vashisht, along with senior officials, doctors, faculty members and employees, were also present.
