Jalandhar, March 21, 2016: IK Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKG PTU) organized a workshop on awareness campaign by its NSS Department on issues concerning women safety at CT Group of Institutions, Shahpur Campus on Monday.
Ms Sudarvizhi (IPS, Police Commissionerate, Jalandhar) addressed more than 300 female students and staff on this occasion. Ms Sudarvizhi said that many laws have been enacted so far to protect women from various crimes. Empowerment of women could only be achieved if their economic and social status is improved. This could be possible only by adopting definite social and economic policies with a view of total development of women and to make them realize that they have the potential to be strong human beings. Women have proved themselves as equals in many professions as well as proved themselves even better suited than men in some.
Ms. Sudarvizhi (IPS, Police Commissionerate, Jalandhar) joined that the situation for the changing role of Women is improving fast. Women are educated; they have achieved great stature in all industries. Bureaucracy, sports, media, women have become a familiar sight. A modern woman has indeed risen above the past nations, about her inferior status. She fears no authoritative men. She strives to stand parallel to men and is independent. Education has given women enlightenment and a vision. They have realized that they aren’t mere puppets in the society but a pillar without which the foundation of society is incomplete. It has traditionally been accepted that the thread of family weaves the fabric of Indian society. Women are considered as the hub centre of the family. Still, in the era of political domination by foreigners, the women in India suffered most. Women Empowerment is most vital system to strengthen the future of women in India. It is a systematic approach which needs to develop more seriously in India.
She said “I feel proud to work with the CT Group of Institutions. For Ladies, the environment is healthy and safe here.” She encouraged women employee to feel free to speak about any harassment or hurdles, if they may face, during their working hours.”
S. Charanjit Singh Channi (Chairman, CT Group of Institutions) and Dr. P.S. Bedi (Campus Director, CT Institutions) also marked their presence at the event. S. Charanjit Singh Channi (Chairman, CT Group of Institutions) said that such initiatives are very important to help women in need and to empower them.
