Chandigarh, October 25, 2023: The Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) has awarded a research grant of Rs.42 lakhs to Dr Vijayta D Chadha, Chairperson, Centre for Nuclear Medicine, Panjab University, for Synthesis and bio evaluation of nano based radiopharmaceuticals in cancer imaging.

The proposed study is an extension of preliminary research carried out of the award of grant by Panjab University Alumni Association, wherein the hypersialylation in cancer cell was exploited as a potential target for nuclear imaging. The encouraging outcome of the previous work prompted the investigators to take the work further by exploiting nano based technology to enhance the specificity of radio pharmaceuticals for cancerous lesions.

Dr Neelima Dhingra from University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Panjab University, who has been recently conferred National Award “Savshreth Divyanjan” 2022 by the President of India, under Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, shall be Co-Investigator in the study.
