Husband wife killed in road mishap in Ferozepur

Ferozepur, October 18, 2016: In a bizarre incident, a married couple died in a road accident near Village Malsian Kalan in Zira Sub-division in Ferozepur today besides seven persons including five kids got injured. The deceased have been identified as Gurmail Singh (40) son of Jarnail Singh and his wife Baljit Kaur (38). As per the information available, Gurmail was recently retired from the Army and had gone to Amritsar to pay obeisance at Golden Temple along with his and his friend Gurpreet Singh and his family.
The accident took place while he was returning from Amritsar today morning. However, destiny had something else in store for him and his family. As soon as he reached near Zira, his Swift Car (Number PB 03 0456) was hit by a over speed truck, which was coming from opposite direction. The impact was so lethal that Gurmail (who was driving) and his wife Baljit died on the spot while his friend Gurpreet Singh and his wife Manjit Kaur sustained severe injuries.
Sadly, Gurmail’s two son Harkeerat and Gurkeerat, who were also travelling in the car, were also badly injured. Three children of Gurpreet, identified as Kushaldeep, Tarunpreet and Prabhjot were also injured. All of them were referred to DMC Ludhiana.
Meanwhile, the driver of the truck managed to escape. Later, the police officials impounded the vehicle. However, no case was registered till now.
