HSCSIT Awards Rs. 25 Lakh Research Grant to Rohtak Varsity’s Professor; 3 year project to provide a new model for wheat cultivation

Rohtak, June 7, 2026: The Haryana State Council for Science, Innovation and Technology (HSCSIT) has approved funding of Rs. 25 lakh for the research project of Prof. Vinita Hooda, a professor in the Department of Botany at MDU.

Spanning the next three years, the project focuses directly on making wheat production more sustainable, cost-effective, and climate-resilient. Based on the theme of 'Mycorrhiza-Microbiome Synergy,' this research aims to develop a technique utilizing beneficial soil microorganisms and fungi to reduce reliance on chemical fertilizers, enhance soil fertility, and enable the wheat crop to better withstand heat, drought, and other environmental stresses.

The objective is to create an eco-friendly farming system for farmers that ensure higher yields while simultaneously lowering production costs. Notably, Prof. Vinita has previously conducted significant research in the fields of agricultural nanotechnology, soil health, plant physiology, and sustainable agriculture.
