HMV organised UGC sponsored National Seminar on Concept to Consumer

Jalandhar, March 19, 2016: The Department of Fashion Designing of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya organized a UGC sponsored one day National Seminar on the topic Concept to Consumer under the MHRD Scheme of Community College, UGC. The keynote speaker of the seminar was Dr. Poonam Aggarwal, Associate Prof. and Deputy Registrar, NIIFT, Mohali. The resource persons of the seminar were Mrs. Aashma Singla, Head Designer, RB Knits, Ludhiana, Mr. Nikhil Kumar, Designer and Owner, Gauri Couture, Phagwara and Mr. Ganesh Vyas, Fashion Stylist, New Delhi. Principal Dr. Rekha Kalia Bhardwaj welcomed the guests and said that in the fashion world, old people can guide but young generation can do the miracles. Fashion world changes continuously. Now the time is to opt professional skill oriented courses.
Keynote speaker Dr. Mrs. Poonam Aggarwal highlighted the concept of the seminar by being a designer. She told the students about the concept of fashion designer and approaching clients. Mrs. Aashma Singla, Head Designer RB Knits Ludhiana talked about production, pattern making and stitching of knits. She discussed the points to be kept in mind while making patterns for knits and stitching of knits. She also gave knowledge of extra accessories used with normal machines for stitching of knits.
Mr. Nikhil Kumar, Designer from Phagwara talked about concept of designing, production and design execution garments. He also discussed about conducting your own fashion show and how to deal with celebrity clients.
Mr. Ganesh Vyas, Fashion stylist from New Delhi discussed about being a fashion stylist and their work. He also talked about the role of fashion stylist in fashion designing.
On this occasion, Mrs. Neety Sood, Mrs. Meenakshi Syal, Mrs. Cheena, Mrs. Navneeta and all the teachers of fashion designing department were present. Stage was conducted by Dr. Anjana Bhatia.
