Every home should have a nutrition garden in its courtyard. We should include poison-free grains, vegetables, and fruits in our diet. We must responsibly ensure that the vegetables and fruits reaching our homes are safe and chemical-free. These sentiments were expressed by Dr. Virender Singh Chauhan, Director of the Haryana Institute of Rural Development (HIRD). Nilokheri, December 10, 2025: Every home should have a nutrition garden in its courtyard. He was addressing the inaugural session of a three-day training program for officers and employees of the MGNREGA Rural Livelihood Mission at the institute.

Participants from six districts of the state are participating in this workshop, which focuses on agricultural nutrition gardens and Moringa plantation (Category-C) works and the advancement plan, in coordination with Mahatma Gandhi NREGA and DNRRLM. Program Coordinator and faculty member of the HIRD, Sandeep Bhardwaj, welcomed Dr. Virender Singh Chauhan with a bouquet of flowers.

HIRD Director, Dr. Virender Singh Chauhan said that the COVID-19 pandemic has made it clear that the real battle is against immunity. The sudden arrival of the corona virus shook the entire world; but those with strong immunity remained safe and healthy. Therefore, it is essential that our food is nutritious, natural, and completely poison-free. He made all the participants pledge that they would definitely establish nutrition gardens in their respective homes and inspire others to do the same.

Dr. Virender Singh Chauhan said that after completing this training program, each participant should choose a village and ensure that a nutrition garden is established in every household in that village; containing vegetables, Moringa (drumstick), and other health-promoting plants, so that every family becomes healthy, safe, and self-reliant.

Program Coordinator Sandeep Bhardwaj said that this training will not only strengthen the technical knowledge of the participants but will also inspire them to play a significant role in promoting nutritional enhancement, self-reliance, and natural farming at the village level. Gurbinder Singh, consultant (National Rural Development Institute, Hyderabad), District Project Officer Gurmeet Singh, Saurabh Khurana, Manisha Devi, Manoj Kumar, and other participants were present during the program.
