HIMACHAL: Governor urges teachers to work with utmost dedication

Shimla, September 5, 2015: Governor Acharya Devvrat has urged the teaching community to work with utmost dedication in order to shape the destinies of young generation. He said the students should prove to be assets to the nation then only the purpose of education shall be fulfilled.
He was speaking in the felicitation function organised by the DAV managing committee in his honour at Hotel Peterhoff, here today.
He said that there was a need to instill human values in children besides teaching them value of discipline in life. They should be made aware of our rich traditions and cultural heritage. Mere knowledge of various subjects was not enough to make students fully educated in true sense, he added.
The Governor said that teachers should identify the hidden potential of students and develop it besides encouraging them to think and express independently. Physical as well as intellectual development of the students should be ensured, he added.
Acharya Devvrat lauded the contribution of DAV institutions in imparting qualitative value based education.
The Governor also visited an exhibition put up by the students of DAV and appreciated the endeavour.
President, DAV managing committee and Arya Pradeshik Pratinidhi Sabha, Poonam Suri  welcomed the Governor and detailed about the activities of the Sabha.
He said that all the 52 schools and 3 colleges of the state would participate in the cleanliness drive. As many as 520 dustbins had been placed in the vicinity of the school campuses in order to initiate the campaign.
Vice President of DAV managing committee Shri S.K. Sama proposed vote of thanks.
Lady Governor Smt. Darshna Devi, General Secretary of DAV managing committee Shri R.S Sharma, Vice Presidents Shri M.L Sekhri and Shri Rajendra Nath, all the regional heads, office bearers and teachers of DAV institutions from Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh attended the function.
The students of DAV recited Vedic mantras on the occasion.
