Haryana Secondary Education Department decides to hold selection trial for participation in Pacific International School Games 2015

Chandigarh, July 23, 2015: Haryana Secondary Education Department has decided to hold selection trial for participation in Pacific International School Games 2015 to be held in Adelaide, South Australia from November 21 to 29, 2015. The selection trails will be held at Ambala on July 27 and   28, 2015 and would be conducted by District Education Officer, Ambala.

While giving this information here today, a spokesman of Secondary Education Department said that the School Sport Australia Inc. would be hosting the Pacific International School Games 2015 in Adelaide, South Australia.

He said that the School Games Federation of India (SGFI) intends to nominate its contingent in these games. Therefore, it has requested the Directorate of Secondary Education, Haryana to shortlist the players from Haryana to compete at national level for final selection in respective teams. The final selected team would represent SGFI in these games, he added.

The spokesman said that the selection trails would be held in different sports disciplines and age groups. These included baseball in the age group of 17 years and under, basketball (12 years and under) and (18 years and under), swimming 10 years to 19 years, diving 10 years to 19 years, football (12 years and Under) and (19 years and under), softball (12 years and under) and (17 years and under) and Table Tennis (12 years and under) and (18 years and under).     He said that the entries were invited from the desired players who fulfill the criteria for participating in the selection trails. The participating player for selection trial should be a student of any school of Haryana as on date of trail.

He said that the list of players should reach SGFI, Agra office latest by July 31, 2015 and the passport details and date of birth of the player must be mentioned in the list. He said that the age group would be considered as on December 31, 2015 that is player should be under-18 as on this date. In the age group under 18, the selected players should be the member of Under-17 and Under-19 for National School Games Championship. Apart from this, a Demand Draft of Rs two lakh per player has to be arranged that is Rs 1.25 lakh as international expenditure and Rs 75,000 as kit money favouring “The Secretary General School Games Federation of India, Agra” to Agra Office. The sports team would be going at No Cost to Government; therefore, the list of players would have to be sent after considering the total expenses to be borne. The cost of participation of a student in these games is Rs two lakh per player and the amount is to be borne by the player himself or herself, he added. / (SK Vyas, Jalandhar)
