Government Polytechnic College Amritsar Emerges Victorious at PTIS Punjab Inter-Polytechnic Athletic Meet 2026 Hosted by CT Group of Institutions
Jalandhar, April 7, 2026: The sprawling campus of CT Group of Institutions, Shahpur, recently served as the epicentre of athletic brilliance as it hosted the prestigious Punjab Inter-Polytechnic Athletic Meet 2026. Organised under the flagship of Punjab Technical Institutions Sports (PTIS), the state-level event brought together the finest sporting talent from technical colleges across the region. The meet concluded with a grand display of sportsmanship, where Government Polytechnic College, Amritsar, was declared the Overall Winner of the Athletic Meet, while Government Polytechnic College, Bathinda, secured the honourable Runner-Up position.
The event was marked by the presence of distinguished dignitaries who inspired the youth with their insights. Sandeep Rishi, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Jalandhar, joined the meet as the Chief Guest on the opening day, highlighting how sports play an indispensable role in the overall personality development of students. On the subsequent day, Navdeep Singh, Deputy Director, Technical Education & Industrial Training, Punjab, attended as the Chief Guest, urging the participants to maintain the same level of excellence in their professional careers as they do on the field.
Commenting on the success of the event, Dr. Manbir Singh, Managing Director of CT Group, stated that hosting such a prestigious state-level meet reinforces the institution's dedication to the holistic growth of students, noting that the discipline and resilience learned on the athletic track are the same qualities that lead to professional success in the technical world. He further expressed his pride in the participants, remarking that the energy and talent displayed by the students from across Punjab were truly exemplary and a testament to the bright future of the state's youth.
The athletic meet witnessed an overwhelming response with participation from over 250 students representing more than 30 polytechnic colleges. Athletes traveled from various key regions, including Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Ferozepur, Mohali, Bathinda, Batala, Hoshiarpur, Pathankot, and Kapurthala, making the competition a truly inclusive state-wide platform. The presence of more than 10 Principals from various polytechnic institutions further demonstrated the strong institutional engagement and commitment toward fostering a robust sports culture within the technical education sector.
The competition featured a diverse range of athletic disciplines including the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, and 3000m races, along with field events such as Long Jump, Triple Jump, Shot Put, Javelin Throw, and High Jump. The success of the event was driven by the dedicated efforts of the PTIS leadership, including President P.S. Mattewal, Organizing Secretary Ramsaroop, and Joint Secretary Amanpreet Singh. Their coordination ensured that the spirit of discipline and unity remained at the forefront of the two-day meet.
The management of CT Group of Institutions played a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless execution of the event. Alongside Dr. Manbir Singh, Vice Chairman Harpreet Singh, Campus Director Dr Shiv Kumar, Director of Admissions Dr Vaneet Thakur, Director of Academic Operations, Dr Sangram Singh, Dean of Student Welfare Dr Arjan Singh, and Principal CT Polytechnic Munish Digra were present to facilitate the proceedings and honour the winners.
