GHSC-10 organised awareness lecture on eye donation

Chandigarh, September 3, 2022: An awareness lecture was organised in Government Home Science College in collaboration with Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector-32, Chandigarh. 

Dr. Tanu, Assistant Professor and Chanchal, Medical Social Welfare Officer from the Department of Ophthalmology, GMCH-32 were the resource persons for the event. The rationale of the event was to sensitise the audience about the importance of eye donation and to motivate people to take pledge on donating their eyes after death. 

Dr. Tanu highlighted the significance of donating eyes and issues associated with it. She further emphasised that youth is the future of the nation and they can make a difference in somebody’s life by donating their eyes. The resource person busted the existing myths related to donation of eyes amongst the students.

The principal of the college, Prof. Sudha katyal, talked about the significance of the eye donation and emphasised that awareness among various stakeholders provide immense aid to people suffering from several kinds of visual impairments.
