Jalandhar, January 28, 2015:  High Commissioner of the Republic of Ghana Samuel Panyin Yalley visited Lovely Professional University today. He inaugurated 5th Nursing Conference on Clinical Nursing 2015 organised at Shanti Devi Mittal Auditorium of the university. SPS Apollo Hospitals & LPU School of Pharmaceutical Sciences collaborated to organize the Conference. More than 1000 participating nursing professionals from 25 nursing institutes of the team were sensitised by medical experts’ team from SPS Hospitals. The topic of the conference “Clinical Nursing” highlighted specific requirements from nursing professionals for caring critically ailing patients.

Appreciating the educational endeavours of LPU in high terms, Yalley expressed: “As I have seen LPU is the largest University not only in India but also in Africa and even Europe. I would like to see many of students from across globe to get higher education in universities like LPU.” Addressing nursing professionals, Hon’ble Guest continued: “Your profession is very helpful for mankind and is above all other professions. You have been specially sent by God to help suffering humanity. The way you converse and communicate with the patients they automatically get healed up. I personally feel that there must be an Apollo Hospital in Republic of Ghana as well. In Ghana, there is presently one nurse to look after 500 patients and I also want good nurses among you to serve in Ghana.”

Prior to this, welcoming Yalley, LPU Chancellor Ashok Mittal was much pleased to share about the high administrative skills of the elite guest. Mittal also appreciated the organizing teams of LPU & SPS Apollo Hospitals for their efforts and shared: “The aim of the conference seems to be fulfilled as many expert practitioners and nursing students have come together for required awakening.  Nursing professionals are back-bone of the medical profession as they provide 24 hour care to the patients after timely check-ups by the doctors. I too want that nursing program should be started at LPU so that ailing mankind may more be looked after.”

Five scientific sessions concerning clinical nursing organised were: Specialised Nursing Career Perspectives; Assessment of Critically ill-Patients; Monitoring the Patients in ICUs; Indication & Invitation of Ventilation; & ECG Interpretation & Life Threatening Arrhythmias. Head of SPS Apollo Hospitals Ludhiana Dr Anupam Srivastva, Dr Vikas Bansal, and Dr Kanwalpreet Sodhee headed different sessions to educate nursing students for their required and important roles. Nursing students got practical knowledge in the fields of cardiology, emergency and intensive care.

LPU Students from Africa presented cultural program to make the high-profiled guest reminisce of his native land. State level inter-college nursing quiz competition was also held for the nursing students’ teams. Dr Anupam shared: “Students are happy on getting trained through live demonstrations, presentations and interactions. They have got benefitted from exposure to new and novel topics, shared methods of improving care & underwent vital training.”
