GADVASU NCC CADETS CLEAN CITY RAILWAY STATION AND BUS STAND UNDER 'SWACHCHTA HI SEWA' CAMPAIGN

Ludhiana, October 1, 2018: The NCC cadets of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana painted mural paintings and cleaning of Ludhiana Railway Station and Bus Stand under 'Swachchta hi Sewa' campaign which has been initiated all over the country by the Prime Minister Mr.Narendra Modi. Various awareness rallies in the Swachchta Abhiyan launched by 1 Pb R& V SQN NCC GADVASU Ludhiana. Rallies were arranged making the people aware regarding making of compost pits, importance of making the environment Open Defecation Free. Public park in the Rishi Nagar area was also cleaned. People were made aware that how they can make compost pits in their home and can convert the garbage being generated from their household works into manure by putting the waste in compost pits. Moreover, the people were told that toilets should be made and defecation should not be done in the open because it can lead to spreading of diseases. The cadets also cleaned the public park in Rishi Nagar by removing the plastic thrown in the park and cutting the long grass.
A seminar entitled ‘Swachchta-The Way ahead’ was organized in which Dr. Nitin Mehta, Assistant Professor, GADVASU was the resource person. He motivated the student and made them realize the importance of cleanliness. The students were told that the cleanliness is a thinking which starts from us, our homes. If we are clean and keep our environment clean, then our country will become automatically clean. All these activities were undertaken under the leadership of Lt. Col. D.S. Dalal, Officer Commanding of the unit. He motivated the cadets for such activities and described the importance. Lt. Dr. Nitin Dev Singh, lauded the cadets for their untiring efforts. He said in spite of very hectic schedule of studies, students were helping in this nation building process.
