Chandigarh, May 14, 2025: In an initiative to curb traffic congestion, Panjab University has decided to implement one-way traffic in the major academic area of the Sector 14 campus on a trial basis, effective from May 15, 2025.
The decision has been taken as part of University's broader effort to improve traffic flow within the campus, and encourage cycling and walking within the academic areas. The one-way traffic system will apply to both four-wheelers and two-wheelers on the two road stretches from the Arts Block to the Law Department, and from the Chemistry Department to the Zoology Department roundabout. On both these roads, vehicular movement will be permitted only from the South to the North direction i.e. Arts Block to Law Department and Chemistry to Zoology Department direction only.
PU Spokesperson informed that the move is aimed at better traffic management, reducing congestion and promoting healthy habits like walking and cycling among students and staff, wherever feasible. The University will monitor the impact of this trial and decide appropriately to make further improvements, if necessary.
