From Learners to Entrepreneurs: 55th Annual Convocation cum Prize Distribution Ceremony at Home Science College Highlights Student Success

Chandigarh, April 18, 2026: In a spirited celebration of academic achievement and exemplary performance, Home Science College hosted its 55th Annual Convocation cum Prize Distribution Ceremony on 18 April, 2026 with great zeal and enthusiasm. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Prof. Yajvender Pal Verma who is the current Registrar of Panjab University.
The event commenced with the comprehensive Annual Report presented by Prof. Sudha Katyal (Principal), encapsulating the academic achievements, milestones and strategic initiatives undertaken during the academic year in the college. She also highlighted that, in sync with NEP 2020, college has made all efforts to stress on skill based education with thrust on innovation.
The event proceeded with formal conferral of degrees to the graduating students, signifying their readiness to enter the professional world. Bhawna for ” Shesales” and Nandini for “Nandini creations” were felicitated with the Best entrepreneur Awards for the Years 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 respectively for their startups. In the similar vein, All Round Best Student Award was given to Poonam Bharadwaj for the year 2024-2025 and to Arsya Korpal for the year 2025 for their exceptional achievements in both academic and co-curricular activities.
The chief guest of the event Prof. Y.P Verma , congratulated all the students for their academic accomplishments and strongly advocated to develop their skill set and be empathetic.
The ceremony concluded with the vote of thanks by Prof. Sudha Katyal (Principal). She urged the degree holders to believe in themselves and extended her sincerest appreciation to all attendees for their unwavering support and participation in making the Annual Convocation and Prize Distribution Ceremony a resounding success.
