Ferozepur, October 25, 2014: Darshan Singh, a freedom fighter who died at the age of 90 at his native village Basti Sant Pura (Talli Saida Sahu) in this border district was cremated with full state honours today.
Police Officials reversed their arms and fired in the air and rich paid tributes to the departed soul. Kamal Sharma, President, Punjab BJP said that the nation has lost another of its warrior who gave prime of his life for the freedom of the motherland. Deputy Commissioner DPS Kharbanda said that the sacrifice of these freedom fighters will continue to inspire the upcoming generations while Sukhpal Singh Nannu, ex-MLA termed this an irrevocable loss. He said that the sacrifices made by freedom fighters cannot be forgotten ever.
Besides all these, senior police and civil officials were also present. Among others those present were Vibhore Sharma, DSP(City), Jugraj Singh Katoral, District President, BJP, Ashwani Grover, Former President Municipal Council, Jimmy Sandhu, District President, BJP Yuva Morcha, Balwant Singh Chairman, Block Samiti, Davinder Bajaj, Circle President BJP besides large number of people from the neighbouring villages were also present.
