First day of fifth International workshop, under GIAN started quite ceremoniously at Panjab University

Chandigarh, November 21, 2016: The first day of fifth International workshop, under GIAN started quite ceremoniously today at Panjab University, on the theme “Discovery of Drugs Targeting G Protein-coupled Receptors”
The presidential address was delivered by PU Vice Chancellor Professor Arun Kumar Grover (as the Chief Patron of the Workshop, while Prof S.K. Mehta, Local coordinator, GIAN delivered the welcome address and highlighted the major objectives of the GIAN program. Complementing the organizers for their meticulous and superlative efforts, PU VC Professor Arun K Grover in his presidential remarks, delivered a brief note on the genesis of GIAN program, and motivated the young
participants to follow the foot prints of the legends and to march ahead for higher echelons in their research objectives for inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary research activities in nanotechnology-based biomedical sciences for their meaningful
applications in human healthcare management.
Shri Pardeep Mattu, Joint Commissioner Food and Drug Administration, Punjab as the Chief Guest in his inaugural talk deliberated on the enormous headway in the development of cost effective, safe and patient complaint drugs.
PU Director Research Promotion Cell Prof O.P. Katare shared words of wisdom and encouraged the spirit of research and innovation in students. Course Coordinator Professor Ranju Bansal highlighted the contents of the course and introduced the
principal resource person Prof. Karl-Norbert Klotz from Germany and familiarized the audience with the credentials of the principal resource person and highlighted three learning points, i.e., information, interaction and innovation in science-based
learning.
