World Obesity Day being celebrated at DMCH, Ludhiana.

Ludhiana, October 10, 2015: ‘World Obesity Day’ was observed today in OPD block of the hospital. Students from College of Nursing along with staff & doctors celebrated the day.
Dr Ashish Ahuja (Bariatric Surgeon & Associate Prof of Surgery) along with Dr P.S.Nain organized the event. The posters made by students showing the bad effects of obesity were put on display. A role play was also conducted by a group of students.
Dr Ashish Ahuja and Dr P S Nain said the main concern on this day is to make people aware about the quality of food which they take and keeping oneself physically fit in present day sedentary life-style.
Doctors also informed a gathering of  patients present there that there is an alarming rise of childhood obesity in India & the main reason for this  is lack of participation in physical activity and spending time watching television and computers. Medical Supdt.  Dr. Sandeep Sharma said a simple exercise like cycling can be adopted twice a week for going to your workplace to improve good health & save environment against pollution. Secretary of DMCH Managing Society- Prem Kumar Gupta, Vice President Gian Chand Dhawan, Principal Dr Sandeep Puri, Dr Deepinder Chhina, & Dr Chiranjiv Gill were present on the occasion.
