Rohtak, August 12, 2025: The air at the Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLC SUPVA) is charged with excitement as the University embarks on a vibrant week-long celebration leading up to Independence Day.
The festivities commence today with a poster-making competition organized by the Faculty of Visual Arts, drawing an enthusiastic participation of around 141 students from all faculties. Students created hand-made posters on the spot, exploring themes such as Independence Day, environmental conservation, social issues, women empowerment, and more.
Director PR, Dr. Benul Tomar said that there will be a Rangoli competition on 13th August, adding a splash of colour to the celebratory spirit. However, the most awaited moment of the week is the Foundation Day Celebrations on 14th August, which promise to be a spectacular convergence of performing and visual arts.
From the pulsating beats of Haryanvi folk dances and evocative Ragini renditions, to a compelling play, soulful musical band performances, a fashion show, and art exhibitions, the event will showcase the diverse talents of DLC SUPVA’s students. Dignitaries from media, administration, cinema, literature, and social spheres will grace the occasion. Esteemed personalities such as noted journalists and commentators Anant Vijay, Rana Yashwant, Hitesh Shankar, Sanskar Bharati’s Organizing Secretary Vijay Kumar, and former Haryana CID Chief Anil Rao, along with 20 other prominent figures from Rohtak, will be present to witness the cultural spectacle.
The Vice-Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya expressed deep pride in the preparations, saying, "Foundation Day is not merely a date on the calendar; it is a mirror to our journey — a tapestry woven with the dedication of faculty, the dreams of students, and the unwavering spirit of our community. This year, our celebrations are an ode to creativity, unity, and the shared vision that propels DLC SUPVA forward."
Registrar Dr. Gunjan Malik Manocha alongwith faculty members and student volunteers from every faculty is working tirelessly to ensure that each event unfolds seamlessly, reflecting the university's ethos of teamwork and excellence.
The celebrations will culminate on 15th August with the Independence Day Ceremony. In a path-breaking departure from the usual practice, VC Dr. Amit Arya has decided that along with him, senior staff members from categories such as peons, gardeners, security guards, and sweepers will jointly unfurl the national flag.
Explaining the decision, Dr. Arya remarked, "The tricolour belongs to every soul who nurtures this varsity and keeps our campus alive. This Independence Day, the flag will rise in their hands too, because every member of the DLC SUPVA family deserves respect and acknowledgement of his/her contribution."
