DLC SUPVA Student's Short Film ‘The Zero Line’ Earns International Recognition at Short Film Festival in Morocco

Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLC SUPVA), Rohtak, has once again brought pride to Haryana and the Indian academic-artistic community with the global recognition of its students’ creative work. ‘The Zero Line’, a powerful short film directed by Chaman Ramesh Kishan, a student from the Faculty of Film and Television, has been officially nominated for the prestigious Balaji Prize in the International Competition at the Marrakech Short Film Festival, Morocco.

Rohtak, July 19, 2025: Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLC SUPVA), Rohtak, has once again brought pride to Haryana and the Indian academic-artistic community with the global recognition of its students’ creative work. ‘The Zero Line’, a powerful short film directed by Chaman Ramesh Kishan, a student from the Faculty of Film and Television, has been officially nominated for the prestigious Balaji Prize in the International Competition at the Marrakech Short Film Festival, Morocco.

This nomination is a significant milestone for the university as it reflects the creative excellence, technical prowess, and collaborative ethos of its students. The film has been produced as part of the Acting Department’s academic project, and has been lauded by the festival jury as “significant and impactful,” resonating with audiences for its storytelling depth and cinematic craft.

The short film features brilliant performances by Acting Department students including Sudhanshu, Divyanshu, Gaurav, Bharat, Sikandar, Ritesh, Vishal, Prince, Chetna, Hansa, and Mitali. Key crew members include Ayush Sharma and Jeevan (Cinematography), Mohit Vats (Sound), Kanishk Bhardwaj (Editing), Vipin Rohilla and Sukhmanjeet (Art Direction); Anchit and Ketan (Costume Design).

The project was developed under the academic supervision of Faculty Coordinator Mahesh TP, Acting Department Head Dushyant and other faculty members.

Vice-Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya and Registrar Dr Gunjan Malik Manocha met the cast and crew of the film and extended words of motivation.

VC Dr. Amit Arya, while congratulating the students, said, “This recognition is not just a moment of celebration, but a testament to the power of practice-based learning. At DLC SUPVA, we are deeply committed to nurturing artistic talent with world-class training and exposure. I am proud of our students who have not only represented the university on a global platform but have also reinforced the strength of Indian storytelling.”

Registrar Dr. Gunjan Malik also expressed pride in the students’ achievement, stating, “Such accomplishments reaffirm our mission to empower students with skills that are relevant, marketable, and globally competitive. The nomination at Marrakech is more than recognition - it is a signal that young storytellers from India are ready to engage with the world stage.”
