Harike Headwork blockade by the Sikh agitators.
Ferozepur, October 22, 2015: The deadlock was finally over today at Harike Headwork today as the Sikh protestors agreed to remove the blockade at the Harike Bridge after interventions made by senior administrative officers from Ferozepur and Tarn Taran.
It is pertinent to mention here that for the last seven days, the agitated Sikhs have blocked the Harike Headwork which connects holy city Amritsar with Ferozepur. Earlier today, Er DPS Kharbanda, Deputy Commissioner, Ferozepur, Hardyal Singh Mann, SSP, Ferozepur besides several other senior police officials from Ferozepur and Tarn Taran had reached Harike Headwork and tried to cajole the agitated members of various Sikh organisations to remove the dharna from the bridge keeping in mind the problems being faced by the common man due to this blockade.
It is pertinent to mention here that the blockade at Harike Headwork has entered into its eighth day due to which thousands of vehicles have been stranded at both ends.
After a high level meeting held at Shaheed Sham Singh Attari Gurdwara, the Sikh organisations had agreed to lift the dharna. It is also worth mentioning here that few days ago a Nihang Sikh identified as Puran Singh (65) had passed away due to cardiac arrest.
