Dharamsala, July 27, 2014: The Tour Programme and Fixtures Committee of the Board of Control of Cricket in India(BCCI) has decided the venues for the series between India and the West Indies on Sunday. The reports released by the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association(HPCA), said that West Indies shall be visiting India in October-November 2014 to play 5 ODIs. The spectacular hill stadium of Dharamsala has been given one ODI of the tour, the only one offered to North India. However, the exact date for this match shall be decided later. The first ODI was held between India and England at Dharamsala on Jan 27, 2013.
"Another ODI, that too in a shortest span, is a big achievement. It`s now official that our infrastructure fulfils international norms," Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) press secretary Mohit Sood said. The HPCA is seeing it as a major achievement in showcasing its showpiece venue, located at an altitude of 4,000 feet above sea level, with the mighty snow-clad Dhauladhar ranges forming the backdrop, is the only operational high altitude international stadium of India.
HPCA Cricket stadium set against the backdrop of the dramatic snow clad mountains, is perched on the high slopes in the upper reaches of Kangra valley. Today, Dharamsala has become the synonymous to the Tibetan government in exile and the home town of Tibetan leader His Holiness Dalai Lama along with the Cricket Stadium. It is not only noted for its cool salubrious air and its stunning mountain scenery but known for serene ambience, rolling meadows and spell binding views.
The other venues other than Dharamsala, for the series between India and the West Indies, to be played in October-November 2014, are as follows:
ODIs: Kolkata, Vishakhapatnam, Cuttack, Dharamshala, Kochi
Tests: Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad
T20 International: Delhi
