Chandigarh, October 27, 2025: The Department of Education today organised a lecture-cum-discussion on the theme “Stress Management in the Era of AI”.
Dr. Uma Nahar Saikia, the current professor in the Department of Histopathology, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, delivered the lecture. She was welcomed by Professor Satvinderpal Kaur as the guest speaker. Professors from the Department of Education, Research scholars and Postgraduate students attended the seminar.
Addressing the students, Dr. Uma stated the four steps before stress response, defined the types of stress i.e. U-stress and Distress, and discussed the responses to the signals of stress. Regarding the stress associated with research scholars and teachers, she stated that their personality types must be as divergent as possible such that they could perform their multitude of tasks as efficiently as possible. She highlighted several stress management techniques such as relaxing with yoga, smiling more often, singing and enjoying, dancing and enjoying, which could be applied in real life. She explained that the need for balance of work and life, alongside the need for changes in the attitude, need for changes in the situation and need for changes in the reaction to the situation; be used as a dealing mechanism towards stressful situations. The sharing of stressful situation with teachers, fellow friends, and parents would help in dealing with stress. She clarified that AI generated dependency on its sole use for every activity, in daily life and as such mobile detox and time management would be better as a stress management technique.
The seminar concluded with a questions and answer session, which was a discursive and insightful look into stress management.
