DCSA Organises Two-day Orientation Programme 2025
The Department of Computer Science and Applications(DCSA), Panjab University, hosted a two-day Orientation Programme 2025 on August 25–26, 2025 to welcome the new batch of MCA and M.Sc. Computer Science (Hons.) Specialization in Data Science) students Batch 2025–2027.

Chandigarh, 26 August 2025: The Department of Computer Science and Applications(DCSA), Panjab University, hosted a two-day Orientation Programme 2025 on August 25–26, 2025 to welcome the new batch of MCA and M.Sc. Computer Science (Hons.) Specialization in Data Science) students Batch 2025–2027.
The two-day event was aimed to introduce students to the department’s faculty members, academic curriculum, student clubs and facilities. Day one began with a formal Welcome Address, by Dr. Anuj Sharma, Chairperson, who extended a warm welcome to new students, and shared his vision for academic innovation and holistic development.
Dr. Jasleen Kaur Bains presented an insightful Academic Curriculum Overview of DCSA. Student representatives of various departmental clubs—Cultural, Editorial, IT, and Environment—introduced their activities to encourage student engagement. The Training and Placement Cell (TPC) also presented its achievements and future plans. The students visited the prestigious Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Computer Centre at Panjab University, where they explored a wide range of advanced IT facilities, services, and infrastructure. The experience, led by Prof. Sonal Chawla, Director of the Centre, with support from her dedicated team, was truly eye-opening and inspiring.
Day two featured a motivational talk by Prof. R.K. Singla, Senior Professor of DCSA followed by a briefing on various university facilities. The senior students then interacted with the newcomers, sharing experiences, technical projects, and showcasing their talents—reflecting the department’s dynamic culture. This was followed by an exciting Ice-Breaking Session, filled with fun games, talent displays, and a talent hunt, fostering bonds among the new entrants. The programme was efficiently coordinated by Dr. Jasleen Kaur Bains and Dr. Balwinder Kaur, whose efforts ensured a smooth and successful event.
