DC Sachin Gupta urges Farmers to Avail Benefits of Water Conservation Schemes and Register Kharif Crops on Meri Fasal Mera Byora Portal

Rohtak, June 3, 2026: Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta has urged farmers to take full advantage of the various farmer-centric and water conservation initiatives being implemented by the Haryana Government and ensure timely registration of their Kharif 2026 crops on the Meri Fasal Mera Byora Portal.

He said that registration on the portal is essential for availing benefits under several agriculture-related schemes and welfare programmes being implemented by the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department.

The Deputy Commissioner informed that the portal has been opened for the Kharif 2026 season and farmers should complete registration well before the deadline to avoid any inconvenience in receiving government benefits.

DC Sachin Gupta said that under the Direct Seeded Rice (DSR) Scheme, Rohtak district has been assigned a target of 10,000 acres for the current Kharif season. Farmers adopting Direct Seeded Rice technology will be eligible for an incentive of ₹4,500 per acre from the Haryana Government. To avail the benefit, farmers must adopt DSR technology and select the DSR option while registering their crops on the Meri Fasal Mera Byora Portal before June 15, 2026.

He further informed that the State Government will make 600 Direct Seeded Rice (DSR) machines available on subsidy across Haryana during the current Kharif season. Farmers can avail a subsidy of 50 percent of the machine cost or up to ₹40,000, whichever is lower.

The Deputy Commissioner also encouraged farmers to participate in the Mera Pani Meri Virasat Scheme, which aims to promote crop diversification and sustainable water use. Under the scheme, farmers who cultivated paddy in the previous season can switch to alternative crops such as – Maize, Cotton, Kharif pulses, Oilseed crops, Fodder crops, Kharif onion, Horticulture crops, Vegetables and Agroforestry plantations.

Farmers opting for these alternatives or even leaving the land fallow in eligible areas can receive an incentive of ₹8,000 per acre. Rohtak district has been assigned a target of 1,500 acres under the scheme.

Dc Sachin Gupta advised farmers to select both the alternative crop option and the Mera Pani Meri Virasat option while registering fields where paddy was cultivated during the previous year.

He appealed to farmers to complete registration before June 15 and adopt water-saving agricultural practices that enhance sustainability, profitability and long-term agricultural resilience.

Deputy Director Agriculture Dr. Surender Singh informed that only about 8 kilograms of seed per acre is required under DSR technology, making it a cost-effective and water-efficient cultivation method. He advised farmers to follow recommended seed treatment and weed management practices for better crop establishment and productivity.
