Interacting with villagers during the Night Halt and Administration at Your Village programme held at Shaheed Jaswant Singh Government Primary School, the Deputy Commissioner urged citizens to stay away from narcotics and cooperate with the administration by sharing information about individuals involved in the sale of intoxicants. He announced that police patrolling in the village would be intensified to effectively curb drug-related activities.
Emphasising citizen-centric governance, DC Sachin Gupta said that from January onwards, old-age pension and other social security pensions would be distributed within the village itself, ensuring ease and convenience for elderly beneficiaries and sparing them the need to travel to neighbouring villages.
He further clarified that if the Gram Panchayat passes a resolution seeking the closure of the liquor vend, the district administration would ensure its removal from the village. Stressing the importance of public health, he cautioned villagers against taking illegal water pipeline connections, which lead to contamination of drinking water, and advised them to obtain authorised connections through the concerned department.
The Deputy Commissioner also assured a permanent solution to the village’s drinking water issues and early redressal of matters related to 100-square-yard residential plots. Terming youth as the backbone of the nation, he announced that sports infrastructure at the village stadium would be strengthened, including the availability of a kabaddi coach and additional sports facilities.
During the programme, villagers were administered an oath to remain drug-free and to actively promote a healthy, addiction-free society. The Deputy Commissioner personally heard public grievances and directed officers of the concerned departments to ensure their immediate resolution.
On the occasion, approval letters for old-age honorarium and widow pension, sanctioned by the Social Welfare Department, were distributed to eligible beneficiaries.
As part of the Night Halt programme, various departments set up stalls to disseminate information on government welfare schemes and extend on-the-spot benefits to eligible villagers. The Health Department organised a medical camp in which over 100 residents underwent health check-ups, including general OPD, anaemia testing and screening services. Free medicines were distributed to around 60 patients.
