Rohtak, February 28, 2026: Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta emphasised that persons with disabilities (PwDs) have an equal right to live an independent, dignified, and self-reliant life, and that their inclusion in the mainstream of society remains a priority for the district administration.
The Deputy Commissioner was addressing beneficiaries after inaugurating a Free Assistive Devices Distribution Camp, organised jointly by the District Red Cross Society, Rohtak and Aravali Power Company Private Limited at Government Women College, Rohtak.
He said that providing essential facilities, assistive devices, and access to government welfare schemes for persons with disabilities is a key component of inclusive governance. He underlined that development efforts must move forward by ensuring that PwDs progress alongside all other sections of society.
The Deputy Commissioner said that assistive devices significantly enhance mobility, self-confidence, and independence, enabling persons with disabilities to engage in education, employment, and entrepreneurship, and thereby achieve economic self-reliance.
Directing the District Red Cross Society, he announced that assessment camps will now be organised in every ward and every village of the district to ensure that maximum eligible persons with disabilities are identified and registered. He stressed that no eligible person with disability should be left without the required assistive support.
A total of 184 assistive devices, valued at approximately 58.56 lakh, were distributed free of cost to 92 pre-identified beneficiaries from different parts of the district during the camp. The devices were provided following prior assessment and testing camps conducted by ALIMCO (a Government of India undertaking).
Presiding over the programme, Dilip Kairbota said that Aravali Power Company Private Limited continues to utilise its CSR funds for social welfare initiatives. He reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to uplifting all sections of society and ensuring that the most vulnerable are brought into the mainstream.
Special Guest Umesh Kumar highlighted the importance of inclusion, empowerment, and sustainable development, noting that APCPL’s CSR initiatives play a vital role in supporting marginalised communities, particularly persons with disabilities.
Principal of Government Women PG College, Shamsher Singh, also appreciated the consistent efforts of the government and partner institutions towards disability empowerment. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Vikas, Secretary, District Red Cross Society, Rohtak.
