DC Sachin Gupta directs School Operators to ensure All Necessary Arrangements for Safe Operation of School Buses
Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta has directed all private school operators to ensure that all necessary steps are taken for the safe operation of school buses. He said that in view of the upcoming winter and foggy season, all arrangements must be made to ensure the safety of school children. The District Administration will also conduct a special bus-checking campaign during the winter and foggy season, during which Sub-Divisional Committees will inspect school buses.
Rohtak, December 1, 2025: Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta has directed all private school operators to ensure that all necessary steps are taken for the safe operation of school buses. He said that in view of the upcoming winter and foggy season, all arrangements must be made to ensure the safety of school children. The District Administration will also conduct a special bus-checking campaign during the winter and foggy season, during which Sub-Divisional Committees will inspect school buses.
DC Sachin Gupta was presiding over a meeting held at the Local Mini Secretariat Auditorium with private school operators regarding the safe operation of school buses and the safety of children during the fog season. He instructed school operators to strictly comply with all standards under the Safe School Vehicle Policy and the guidelines issued by the Hon’ble Supreme Court.
He said that all school operators must ensure that their buses have all mandatory documents, including; Valid fitness certificate, Valid insurance, Pollution certificate, Permit for school transport, Driver’s license, Police verification of driver and conductor. They must also follow the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.
Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta added that school operators must ensure all safety arrangements in school buses. These include; Sealed speed governors, Functional CCTV cameras (front and inside the bus), GPS with school access, Fire extinguishers, fully stocked first-aid kit, Emergency exit, Window grills. He instructed that no seat in the school bus should be damaged, no seat corner should be sharp, and the tyres, brakes, and lights must be in proper condition.
DC Sachin Gupta further said that daily breath analyser checks of bus drivers and staff, proper uniforms and ID cards, and mandatory training every six months must be ensured. School operators must also ensure that drivers do not use mobile phones while driving, children are seated strictly as per the allowed capacity, and a conductor is present in the bus on every trip.
He added that the logbook must be checked daily, the trip sheet along with the list of children must be kept in the bus, attendance must be marked before departure, and buses must not stop at any unauthorized points. Children’s pick-up and drop points should be safe, and the school transport in-charge must be present on the school premises during bus operations.
Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta also said that preparedness for handling any emergency situation must be ensured. Mock drills should be conducted every quarter. Emergency contact information should be available inside the bus. Drivers should have full knowledge of the breakdown protocol.
RTA Secretary Virender Singh Dhull, instructed that reflective tape should be applied on both sides of all school buses. If any school does not have reflective tape, they may obtain it from the office of the RTA Secretary. The meeting was attended by DSP Gulab Singh, Deputy District Education Officer Muni Devi, and representatives of various private schools.
Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta visits PGI Trauma Center to check the wellbeing of students injured in road accident
DC Sachin Gupta this morning visited the Trauma Center of Pt. BDS University of Health Sciences to check on the wellbeing of school students injured in a road accident. Under his supervision, the injured students were given immediate medical treatment. After treatment, the children were sent home.
Earlier in the morning, a collision involving school buses in Lakhanmajra had caused injuries to a few students. The incident occurred when a school bus of Jind district collided from behind with the bus of local ZAD Global School. Two injured children were brought to the Trauma Center for treatment. One child was given first aid and sent home immediately, while the other was sent home after necessary tests and treatment.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Ramesh Chandra, Medical Superintendent Dr. Kundan Mittal, Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr. Rajbir Sabharwal, and other officials were present at the trauma center.
