Fina Singh Irrigation Project to be Completed Soon: Agnihotri
Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri on Saturday said the long-pending Fina Singh Multipurpose Irrigation Project in Kangra district would be completed soon, following the release of ₹60.26 crore by the Central Government.

Dharamshala, August 9, 2026: Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri on Saturday said the long-pending Fina Singh Multipurpose Irrigation Project in Kangra district would be completed soon, following the release of ₹60.26 crore by the Central Government.
Speaking at a function in Dharamshala, Agnihotri said the ₹643-crore project had remained stalled for a long time, with the state government already spending around ₹300 crore from its own resources. He said the fresh central funding would accelerate the remaining construction work.
Highlighting Kangra's development potential, Agnihotri said the state's largest airport was being developed in the district and would give a major boost to tourism. A zoo and the state's largest milk processing plant are also being established in Kangra, he added.
Agnihotri also stressed the need for transparency in recruitment, saying paper leaks were a serious concern across the country and the future of hardworking youth should not be compromised. Referring to the police recruitment paper leak during the previous state government, he said young people wanted employment and development rather than divisive politics.
He further announced that the government would soon issue a notification for a ₹1,000 increase in the honorarium of ASHA workers, as already approved by the Cabinet under the budget announcement. He acknowledged their services, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Deputy Chief Minister said politics should remain focused on development and public welfare, with political leaders maintaining dignity and decorum. He urged people to judge governments by their development work and welfare schemes.
HRTC Vice Chairman Ajay Verma, Additional Deputy Commissioner Vinay Kumar, Engineer-in-Chief Jal Shakti Department Deepak Garg, Superintending Engineer Vishal Jaswal, HRTC DM Pankaj Chadha, Government College Dharamshala Principal Rakesh Pathania and a large number of ASHA workers were present.
