Entrepreneurship is not merely a means of establishing a business, but a powerful approach towards self-reliance, innovation and employment generation. Efforts to connect rural women with entrepreneurship and economically empower them will strengthen the vision of self-reliant Haryana and a developed India, said Dr. Virender Singh Chauhan, Director, Haryana Institute of Rural Development (HIRD). He was addressing participants at the concluding session of a seven-day training programme on entrepreneurship development.

Nilokheri, August 9, 2026: Entrepreneurship is not merely a means of establishing a business, but a powerful approach towards self-reliance, innovation and employment generation. Efforts to connect rural women with entrepreneurship and economically empower them will strengthen the vision of self-reliant Haryana and a developed India, said Dr. Virender Singh Chauhan, Director, Haryana Institute of Rural Development (HIRD). He was addressing participants at the concluding session of a seven-day training programme on entrepreneurship development.

Dr. Chauhan said training becomes meaningful only when its impact reaches the last person in society. He called upon women resource persons to disseminate the knowledge and skills acquired during the training in their respective areas and motivate rural women to become successful entrepreneurs.

The HIRD Director said rural women have set new examples of economic empowerment through self-help groups. Trained women resource persons can play an important role in giving further momentum to this transformation, he added.

Dr. Virender Singh Chauhan said promoting the spirit of entrepreneurship among women can provide them with self-employment opportunities, increase family incomes and strengthen the rural economy. He urged the participants not to limit the training to a programme but use it as a means to bring positive changes in the lives of rural women.

The seven-day training programme was aimed to capacity building of women resource persons and equip them with effective skills to promote entrepreneurship in rural areas, expand self-employment opportunities and empower women associated with self-help groups.

During the programme, experts provided training on enterprise establishment, skill development, leadership, innovation, problem-solving, business management and modern training methodologies, among other subjects. Programme Coordinator Dr. Sushil Mehta said entrepreneurship development training is an effective means of developing leadership, innovation, problem-solving and business management skills among participants.

L.P. Bhatt, an expert from the National Skill Institute, Panipat, provided detailed information on skill development, enterprise establishment, modern training methodologies and capacity building in accordance with the current requirements of industries. He said better quality trainers would lead to more effective outcomes in entrepreneurship development.

During the concluding session, participants pledged to apply the knowledge and experience gained during the training in their respective areas and connect more rural women with entrepreneurship. Sandeep Kumar and Kamaldeep Sangwan from HIRD, women associated with self-help groups from various districts of the state and other participants were present on the occasion.
