Rohtak, December 8, 2025: Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta directed officials to ensure effective prosecution of narcotics cases in courts so that no guilty person is acquitted. He emphasized that the prosecution of pending NDPS cases should be expedited and strict action taken as per rules against those involved in the sale of narcotic substances. He also ordered action against de-addiction centres operating without registration.

The Deputy Commissioner was presiding over the review meeting of NCORD (Narco Coordination Centre) at the auditorium of the Mini Secretariat, along with Superintendent of Police Surender Singh and other concerned officers. While reviewing NDPS cases pending in courts, he directed officials to intensify prosecution so that guilty persons can be punished at the earliest. During the current financial year, 93 NDPS cases have been registered so far. Of these, courts have disposed of 21 cases, in which 15 accused have been convicted and 6 acquitted.

DC Sachin Gupta instructed the Drug Control Officer to also register FIRs against wholesalers and retailers involved in the sale of narcotic substances. In the district, 29 wholesalers have been checked and retailers have also been inspected. A total of 31 FIRs have been registered against drug suppliers in the district. He further directed health department officials to ensure quarterly meetings of de-addiction centres are held on time and to conduct raids and take necessary action against de-addiction centres operating without registration. Under the de-addiction campaign, the Health Department has organized three camps.

Superintendent of Police Surender Singh said that special teams have been constituted by the police to create awareness among citizens about the harmful effects of narcotic substances. These teams have organized 63 awareness camps in 39 villages of the district, educating people about the ill-effects of drug abuse and advising them to stay away from all forms of addiction. During these camps, citizens were also encouraged to share information about individuals involved in drug trafficking.

The SP added that the police are continuously creating awareness among citizens to protect them from cyber crime. He explained that cyber crimes are mainly being committed in two ways: first, cyber criminals send OTPs to cheat people, and second, they send links on WhatsApp and ask citizens to click on them. Through such methods, cyber criminals withdraw money from bank accounts. He appealed to citizens, stating that awareness and caution are the only ways to stay safe from cyber crime. He also directed police officers to regularly spread awareness about cyber crime prevention through all social media platforms.

The meeting was attended by Drug Control Officer Manjeet Mann, Health Department psychiatrist Dr. Vinita, District Programme Officer of the Women and Child Development Department Deepika Saini, and other concerned officials.
