DAV University celebrates Teej Festival 2025 with vibrant cultural showcase
DAV University, Jalandhar, came alive with colours, music, and tradition as it celebrated Teej Festival 2025 with great enthusiasm. The celebration aimed to preserve and promote Punjab’s rich cultural heritage through a variety of competitions, including Mehndi Competition, Heritage Exhibition, Heritage Arts Competition, Miss Teej Competition, and Folk Dance Competition. Students participated with zeal, adorning the campus with artistic expressions, traditional attire, and spirited performances.

Jalandhar, August 13, 2025: DAV University, Jalandhar, came alive with colours, music, and tradition as it celebrated Teej Festival 2025 with great enthusiasm. The celebration aimed to preserve and promote Punjab’s rich cultural heritage through a variety of competitions, including Mehndi Competition, Heritage Exhibition, Heritage Arts Competition, Miss Teej Competition, and Folk Dance Competition. Students participated with zeal, adorning the campus with artistic expressions, traditional attire, and spirited performances.
The event was graced by Suhinder Kaur, wife of Harbhajan Singh ETO, Cabinet Minister, Powercom and PWD, as the Chief Guest of the occasion. Addressing the vibrant audience, Suhinder Kaur appreciated the university’s initiative in organising such an event that connects the youth to their traditions. She also encouraged students to take pride in Punjabi culture and carry it forward to future generations.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof (Dr) Manoj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, lauded the efforts of the students and the Department of the Students’ Welfare in keeping traditions alive in the modern era. He highlighted that such festivals not only provide a platform for talent but also strengthen the roots of cultural identity.
Addressing the students, Prof. (Dr.) S. K. Arora, Registrar, congratulated the participants on their creativity and dedication, noting that the Teej Festival fosters unity, joy, and respect for heritage among the university community.
In the Miss Teej 2025 contest, Diya Khanna from the Law Department was crowned winner, with Sudhiksha from the Education Department securing the first runner-up position, and Ishika from the Law Department emerging as the second runner-up. The Mehndi Competition saw intricate artistry on display, with Ritika from CSA taking the top spot, followed by Kiran from Biotechnology and Tanveer from CSE. The Folk Dance (Solo) category was won by Manpreet, while Sudhiksha secured second place and Muskan took third. In the Folk Dance (Duet) segment, Ridhi and Chahat clinched first place, with Gargi and Preeti finishing second. The Folk Dance (Group) competition was won by the spirited team of Sehajpreet Kaur, Komal, Mandeep Kaur, Payal, and Riya Saini, whose coordinated performance captivated the audience.
Congratulating the winners, Dean Students’ Welfare Dr. Kamaljeet Kaur Sidhu said that events like the Teej Festival are much more than cultural showcases—they serve as living classrooms where students learn to appreciate and preserve their heritage. She added that such celebrations play a pivotal role in fostering the values of culture and traditions among the youth, offering them a sense of identity, belonging, and pride in their roots.
The day concluded with vibrant folk dances, the crowning of Miss Teej 2025, and heartfelt applause for all participants. The festival left an enduring impression of joy, colour, and cultural pride on the entire DAV University family.
