DAV College Jalandhar organises Alumni Meets

Jaladhar, December 9, 2018: DAV College, Jalandhar has a long established tradition of staying in touch with its students. In order to continue this tradition, the college organized Alumni Meets for alumni in its campus.

The students remembered their ideal teachers, Prof.P.N.Kapoor, Prof.Gulshan Kumar, Prof.Kartar Singh, Prof.C.L.Arora, Prof.PD Chaudhary, Prof.S.P.Malhotra, Prof.B.S.Behl, Prof.A. J.Behl, Prof.C.J. Bahl, Prof.Prof. M.K.Khanna, Prof.V.K. Kohli, Prof.Krishan Chand, Prof.R.P.Arora, Prof.J. P.Jain, Prof.Ved Agnihotri, Prof.R.K.Parashar, Prof.Ram Avatar, Prof.D.Sud, Prof KK Ghai and Prof HK Tandon at the meet.

The highest educational institute in Jalandhar, DAV College was established in 1918, where more than 7000 are studying in one session.There was a different atmosphere on Saturday. With many wrinkled faces, many well-known doctors, engineers, teachers, businessmen, when met with their old friends, once they could not identify each other, but when they looked carefully, they got embroiled by identifying their friends. Then the face of each other with the dubbed eyes began to embrace again. DAV college considered to be the city's pride was celebrating Alumni Meet -2018 on Saturday. In this event, students from the year 2013 gathered at the grand ceremony held in the college. Seeing such a friendship of these old-time friends, the present students standing there also became emotional.

All old students today are distinguished in different colors. By passing their growing age, they again became a student today. They remembered the old friends. When the old faces were remembered, faces blossomed. Later, they left the place and shared information about their family, including events related to their lives.

Event was laid by Dr Satish Kumar Sharma (Director of DAV, CMC), Principal Dr SK Arora and Dean of Alumni Association Dr Poonam Kumar Sharma. Chief guest and prestigious alumnus of college, Dr Harvinder Singh Sahota (Cardiologist, California, USA), Guest of honor, Dr Ram Krishna Gupta (Singapore) were welcomed and honoured in college by Dr Satish Sharma (Director of DAV, CMC), Principal Dr SK Arora, Secretary LMC Arvind Ghai, President of alumni association Dr Viajy Mahajan, Vice principal Prof VK Sareen, Vice Principal Arun Mehra, Registrar Ajay kumar Agarwal, Staff Secretary Prof Vipan Jhanji, Joint Staff Secretary Prof Deepak Wadhawan, Dean Alumni Association Dr Poonam Sharma, Dean EMA Dr Jagdish Garg, Dean Examination Prof Salil Uppal, Dean Academics Dr Sanjeev Dhawan, Dean Hospitality Prof Sonika, Dean Student Welfare, Dr B B Sharma, Dean Public Relation Prof Manish Khanna, Dean Placement Manav Aggarwal,Dr Nischay Bahl, Dr Dinesh Arora, Prof Naveen Saini, Prof Chandar Kiran, Dr Suresh Khurana, Prof S K Midda , Prof Satpal Singh, R K Mahajan, Arwind Kumar, Ravinder Kalia, Arun Prashar.

In the program nearly fifty alumni shared their memories and took part in the interactive session. Many of these people have now gone abroad, but they came specifically to Jalandhar for the alumni meet.

Nearly two hundred alumni from the country and abroad came to the college. Years later, seeing their college and old friends all became very emotional. In such a situation, someone was kissing his class bench, so no one was watching the campus. Years later, friends met with each other to refresh old memories. This experience of being in the same college after being separated from the student life is very special. Alumni who got years later in college, recalled the memories of their college days. In the meantime, there has been a run of fun and memories of the past days. In this program where alumni shared their experiences, they went to classrooms where they used to study. The program organized here continued till late Saturday night.

The guests were made to visit the Indoor Narayan Saraswati Bhagat Block, food and science department, bio-technology department, media, commerce and management departments at the campus. Seeing the pride of the college, "Hall of Fame", all were amazed and excited.

The chief guest in the program, Mr. Harwinder Singh Sahota also could not stop himself. He said that he trusted Alumni Siddhant . He described the celebration as historic.

In the celebration Principal Dr Sanjeev Sharma, Principal Anoop Vats,Dinesh Khanna, CA Ashwani jain, Dr Sudarshan Lal, OP Khanna, Ashwani Victor, Dr Pawan Kumar Gupta, CS Dinesh Gupta, Praveen Kumar, S K Mayor, Ajay Goswami, Principal GC Joshi, Chandar Mohan, Davinder Babblu including participants in high places in the corner of the world including the former students are sitting on the top.

On this occasion, Principal Dr. SK Arora welcomed everyone, saying, "I am very grateful to you all. You are here together today to spend some time together. We know that you may have been troubled by taking some time off from your busy schedule but I believe that the experiences of this evening's moments that you take home will all be very valuable. Our college started hundred years ago, if we talk today, our students are spread all over the world due to their development, education, knowledge and their performance, which make their separate positions everywhere. The excellent performance of many of us is still in my mind. Our college has become one of the great institutions in the country which is at the top position in the ranking given by NAAC. In our institute, there is a favorable environment for all the major requirements such as a vast campus, all development, experienced faculty, dedicated students, essential financial resources etc. In the end, I would like to admire many roles played by everyone in the society. Many of you are in key positions of influence in society. I would like to appreciate the efforts you have made in the last years you have spent in this prestigious institution for the development of society. Finally, I would like to thank all of you for your participation as well as support given to college. It is hoped that this reunion arrangement would have been preferred. All of you wish all the best of this wonderful evening and memorable moments, hope that your time is good.

The chief guest Dr Harwinder Singh Sahota addressed the gathering by firstly thanking the management for inviting him. He expressed his happiness in meeting in person, his batch mates on the occasion all of whom are well connected via whatsapp and social media. He said, that he also believes in alumni principle. He quoted this event is historical in itself and shared his invaluable experiences of being a Davian . He quoted "I have been here after I left the college in 1959 to receive the awards and momentoes, but I feel like being a kid again and sit and enjoy the function as a part of the audience" .

He further talked about the paradigm shift that has taken place with girls soaring high in the sky in every field specially education , and when I was a part of the college , girls were only in Post graduate courses and that too in a very low ratio . But now girls have out rated boys and are Shining like stars , which gives me immense pleasure . And he quoted how DAV has been a hub for true education leading to overall development of thier students " .

Director collages Dr Satish Sharma speaking on this occasion, appreciated alumni for showing interest in contributing for betterment of the institute. He also appealed alumni to come forward for strengthening the linkage between industry and institute. He also appreciated for having good count of alumni that included old as well as recent batch passed out. He congratulated and blessed the Alumni for their achievement and wished them luck for all the future endeavours.

The event was also glittered by cultural performances done by the students.

The meet was concluded by vote of thanks given by Dean alumni association Dr. P.K. Sharma In his speech, he appealed alumni to be united and to be connected with the institute.

The alumni then had gala dinner with the faculties of the institute where great bonhomie was observed everywhere with old students reliving their old memories with their batch mates, seniors and juniors. Many of the current students were also seen interacting with their pass out seniors and learning from their experiences. In all, the ambience was electric with people seen chatting and enjoying in groups.
The Alumni showed their willingness to help and partner in various ways. The Meet ended with a sweet hope of Meeting again with Alumni next year.

DAVC looks forward for a greater partnership with Alumni in the days to come.
