Concept to execution-workshop on suit stitching at GGNIMT
Fashion Design Department of Gujranwala Guru Nanak Institute of Management & Technology (GGNIMT), Ghumar Mandi conducted a Two Day Suit Stitching Workshop at its campus.

Ludhiana, July 20, 2025: Fashion Design Department of Gujranwala Guru Nanak Institute of Management & Technology (GGNIMT), Ghumar Mandi conducted a Two Day Suit Stitching Workshop at its campus.
This workshop aimed at giving the plus two pass out students an opportunity to understanding the process of conceptualizing a design and executing it to create a suit that enhances the identity of the client. Students from the leading schools and also the First Year admits of GGNIMT participated in this hands-on training workshop, which was mentored by Prof. Maganpreet Kaur and the faculty team of Fashion Design Dept. GGNIMT.
The workshop focused on the complete process of women’s suit construction — from drafting and cutting patterns to stitching, pressing, and finishing techniques. Special emphasis was placed on tailoring fit, collar attachment, lining and button placements, giving students a comprehensive understanding of women's wear. Komalpreet a student, felt “This workshop was an intense yet fulfilling experience. I now, understand the importance of precision in creating a formal garment.” Meanwhile, Anjali noted, “Learning techniques from a professional and adapting it to match the specifications of a client was incredibly insightful.”
Prof. Gurleen Kaur, Head Fashion Design asserted that the objective of this workshop was not only to bridge the gap between theory and practice but also encourage students to explore innovations in classic suit designs and styles . Ms. Gurleen Kaur Hod added that such workshops are essential in preparing students for real-world fashion challenges, especially in bespoke tailoring.
Principal GGNIMT Dr. Harpreet Singh congratulated the Faculty Team for their initiative in organizing the workshop, which was an opportunity for the student to learn, experiment, and enjoy the holistic process of creating a suit. He also advised the students them to explore entrepreneurship and think of starting up their own designer labels and studios.
Director GGNIMT Prof. Manjit Singh Chabbra expressed his heartfelt appreciation to both the trainers for sharing their professional insights and also the participants who participated in the workshop enthusiastically and with full commitment. He added that this workshop has not only taught a practical skill but has also sown the seeds of confidence, creativity, and independence. Let this be the beginning for many more such initiatives."
