CMC observes No Tobacco day

Ludhiana, June 1, 2016: World No Tobacco day is observed on 31st May all over the world. Dr Pamela Jeyaraj. Professor of Radiation Oncology, Christian Medical College Ludhiana conducted various activities among patients and relatives, students and in the communities.
Opportunistic screening and free screening were done in the Department of Radiotherapy and ENT by Dr. Ashhish Varghese and Dr Navneet Kumar. Dr Pamela Jeyaraj also sensitized the OPD patients regarding the ill effects of smoking and also the non-smokers regarding passive or secondary smoking. Posters were displayed in the Oncology, Chest & General Medicine, ENT, Plastic surgery OPDs and in the Dental college and College of Nursing. Pamphlets were distributed among the local communities around CMC and in various worship places and among the general public as planned.
An informative talk was delivered by Dr Pamela Jeyaraj, Professor Department of Radiotherapy to the technology students who had pledged to share about the ill effects of smoking to atleast 5 people everyday. The students also were sensitized about smokeless tobacco and the expenditure related to smoking and treatment of tobacco related diseases.
