CM Nayab Singh Saini will honour 81 litterateurs and scholars at Literary Award Ceremony at DLC SUPVA
A literary award ceremony will be held on July 23 at the Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLC-SUPVA) to mark the 123rd birth anniversary of the legendary poet Dada Lakhmi Chand.

Rohtak, July 21, 2026: A literary award ceremony will be held on July 23 at the Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLC-SUPVA) to mark the 123rd birth anniversary of the legendary poet Dada Lakhmi Chand.
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini will attend the event as the chief guest. Organized jointly by DLC SUPVA and the Haryana Sahitya and Sanskriti Akademi, Panchkula, the ceremony will honor 81 litterateurs and scholars from across the state across 40 different categories.
The university administration, in collaboration with the Haryana Sahitya and Sanskriti Akademi, is organizing this event on the university campus to honor writers from across the state for their contributions to art, literature, and culture. Under the 'Sahityakar Abhinandan Yojana' of the Haryana Sahitya and Sanskriti Akademi, writers and scholars of Hindi, Haryanvi, Sanskrit, Punjabi, and Urdu languages will receive honors from the Chief Minister across various categories for different years.
A total of 32 litterateurs in Hindi and Haryanvi languages will be honored for the years 2021 and 2022. Nineteen litterateurs across 13 categories were selected for the year 2021, and 13 litterateurs across 11 categories were selected for the year 2022. Key awards include the 'Ajeevan Sahitya Sadhana Samman', 'Pandit Lakhmi Chand Samman', 'Mahakavi Surdas Samman', 'Shreshtha Mahila Rachnakar Samman', 'Swami Vivekananda Yuva Lekhak Samman', and 'Vishesh Sahitya Sadhana Samman'. In the Sanskrit language, 11 scholars will be honored across 11 categories for the year 2021, with the 'Haryana Sanskrit Gaurav Samman' and 'Sanskrit Sahityalankar Samman' being the prominent ones.
Thirty-one litterateurs in the Punjabi language, spanning the years 2017 to 2022, will be honored across nine distinct categories; these include awards such as the 'Haryana Punjabi Gaurav Puraskar' and the 'Mahakavi Bhai Santokh Singh Puraskar'. Among the recipients, five writers each will be honored for the years 2017, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022, while six will be awarded for the year 2018. Similarly, seven litterateurs in the Urdu language will be honored across seven categories for the year 2017, with the 'Firaq-e-Haryana Samman' and 'Hali Samman' being the prominent awards.
Vice-Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya stated that it is a matter of pride for the university to specially celebrate the birth anniversary of 'Surya Kavi' Dada Lakhmi Chand. He mentioned the awards instituted by the Haryana Sahitya and Sanskriti Akademi in the name of Pt. Lakhmi Chand would be presented within the university campus named after him. Furthermore, the maiden visit of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini to SUPVA will add a special significance to the event.
Registrar Gunjan Malik Manocha informed that the literary award ceremony will be held on July 23 at 2:00 PM in the university's central auditorium. On this occasion, a tribute will be paid to 'Surya Kavi' Dada Lakhmi Chand through a 'Ragini' performance by his great-grandson and university alumnus Chetan Kaushik, alongside university student Yogesh. The litterateurs will be honored with mementos, certificates, and cash prizes. The Registrar added that preparations for the event are proceeding in full swing.
