Ludhiana, December 14, 2015: The 4 day CII Ludhiana Fair, concluded with an overwhelming response, at at Government College for Girls, Civil Lines, Ferozepur Road, Ludhiana on Sunday. People swamped various pavilions and benefitted from various schemes and offers on new and unique products in various categories like automobile, furniture, home decor, garments, kitchenware, food items, lifestyle, healthcare, beauty products, and handicrafts etc.
Punjab Industries and commerce Minister Mr Madan Mohan Mittal visited the CII Ludhiana Fair and appreciated CII for organising a fair that brings immense variety and top quality products from India and Abroad. He took a round of the fair and was delighted to see beautiful handicrafts and special antique collection from various parts of the country and abroad at one place.
“I congratulate CII for holding such a magnificent fair in Ludhiana. It is commendable that CII has brought together both small and big players to provide them an opportunity to showcase their unique products and latest technologies at one platform. In particular, the social expo where rural artisans and small players have got an opportunity to sell their products is really admirable”, said Mr Mittal.
New designs of handmade carpets and wide range of suits from Pakistan were a hit, as always. Daksh India, a new show which exclusively promoted the crafts of rural India also witnessed huge footfall along with Social expo.
The fair not only promoted and provided an opportunity to the artisans and self-help groups to showcase and market their unique handicrafts but also was also played an instrumental role in promoting various small industries which are passing through a rough phase like the age old wood inlay work followed aggressively in erstwhile Punjab and now in only some parts.
“We have showcased the Wooden Inlaid Step Corner Border and Centre Work Fine made of the exquisite sheesham/sisoo wood and inlay with ivory imitation – acrylic sheets. People are buying it as decorative pieces as well as household items. These products are hand crafted by our ardent craftsmen in a wide variety of designs to suit the various choices of the clients. Priced between Rs 500 – Rs 3 lacs, our huge gamut of Decorative Handicraft Gifts that are available in the most breath-taking designs and exclusive patterns are getting huge attraction. There used to be hundreds of such manufacturers earlier, but now this industry is declining. I would request the Govt to support and promote this industry strongly as it is unique, related to our culture and employment intensive. It also bagged an award to Punjab after 2 decades at IETF Pragati Maidan, New Delhi”, said Mr Chuharh Singh, Director, Fab Inlay.
“It was CII’s endeavour to provide a variety of choices and latest products with finest technologies to the customers under one roof. The feedback received both from the exhibitors and the visitors has been tremendous and satisfying. CII thanks all the participating countries, states and other exhibitors for their participation. CII also thanks local Ludhiana Administration along with NABARD for their continued support and cooperation in making this event successful”, shared Mr Pikender Pal Singh, Regional Director, CII NR.
“We loved to visit and shop from the CII fair. I would await eagerly for the CII Fair to shop, especially during the festive season, because we get a lot of variety and good quality of products here at one place and it saves a lot of time”, shared Ms Ritu Chauhan, a housewife from Ludhiana.
