CHC Bara Pind (Phagwara) observes national nutrition day on Wednesday.

Phagwara, September 3, 2014: To mark national nutrition day, Community Health Centre, Bara Pind, organised a special seminar for creating awareness on importance of balance intake of nutrition on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Senior Medical Officer Dr Balwinder Singh Kahlon said that while large section in the country is suffering from malnutrition due to lack of resources on the other hand people in prosperous  sections are also suffering from various diseases due to imbalanced diet. He said that balance diet should include right mix of proteins, vitamins and carbohydrates according to physical activity and age group. He warned against excessive intake of fat based products after 40 years of age. “This would be direct invitation to heart diseases, diabetes and blood pressure,” he remarked, suggesting people to make exercise daily routine of their life along with low fat diet in the middle age. Block Extension Educator Preetinder Singh said that around 50 percent of Indian children were reportedly undernourished. He urged health staff to provide Iron supplementation to pregnant women and Vitamin A to children as per schedule laid down by health department.  Health Supervisor Jagat Ram Bhatti was also present on the occasion.
