Chandigarh, November 23, 2022: Centre for Police Administration organized   a special lecture on ‘Internal Security Challenges in India’ by  Sh. J.P. Singh, IPS (IGP) Police Academy, Training and Research (PAT&R)  Himachal Pradesh (Shimla) on 23rd November,  2022 at 11.45 a.m. onwards in the Seminar hall of the Centre.

The lecture began with the welcome address by Professor Anil Monga, Chairperson of the Centre and he introduced  the main speaker of the day along with the Guest of Honour Professor Rattan Singh, Professor of Law at University Institute of Legal Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh. 

J.P. Singh while discussing Internal Security Challenges in India, pointed out that geography of India makes it vulnerable for influx of different challenges from external and internal sources. He highlighted that India is at the moment facing serious national security challenges such as Terrorism, Left Wing Extremism, Cyber Security Challenges, Counterfeit Currency, Narco Terrorism etc. He suggested that these are very complex issues and require integrated approach with comprehensive strategy. According to him the nexus between politicians and criminals need to be checked. Further he emphasized for evolving joint mechanism for close coordination between Central Security Agencies and various State Police Organizations especially engaged in anti-terrorism activities. He opined that we will be able to curb this menace with close cooperation between People and Law Enforcement Agencies.
 
Professor Rattan Singh emphasized on the need to revamp Criminal Justice System and plugging the prevailing loopholes in system of Justice Delivery. He also talked about constitutional morality. He made an appeal to all present to imbibe the values enshrined in the preamble of the constitution of India into their life.
 
The session ended with Vote of thanks by Prof. Anil Monga, Chairperson, Centre for Police Administration, Panjab University, Chandigarh.
