Capacity Building Training Program of Security Personnel of PU Concludes

Chandigarh, November 27, 2021: Five Days Capacity Building Training Programme of Security Personnel of Punjab University concluded today which was organised by  The Department of Defence and National Security Studies and Centre for Police Administration in collaboration with Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC).
 
Dr Jaskaran Singh Waraich, Chairperson, Department of Defence and National Security Studies, and Dr Kuldeep Singh, Centre for Police Administration, were the training program coordinators. 
 
Dr Kuldeep Singh summarised the five-day training programme and highlighted the importance of the training program to the security personnel to keep the University campus safe. 
 
Prof Meena Sharma, Dean Student Welfare (Women) Panjab University was the Chief Guest on the occasion. In her valedictory speech, Prof highlighted that the skills which participants have learned from the training programme would help them perform their duty efficiently. She highlighted that Security personnel are part of the Panjab University Family and also added that the security of the university relies on three P. The first P denotes Protection of people, the second P denotes protection of property and the third P denotes protection of Information. Prof also assured the security personnel to resolve all the issues of the security department in the near future. Prof motivated the participants to do their duty enthusiastically and honestly. 
 
Other dignitaries present were Prof Ashok Kumar, Associate Dean Student Welfare; Sh. Vikram Singh, Chief of University Security, Panjab University.
 
In his concluding remarks, Prof Ashok Kumar thanked Honourable V.C Raj Kumar for his vision and support to start this training programme. Prof highlighted that university authorities are tirelessly working on resolving the issues related to the security department. Prof Ashok mentioned that security guards have to deal with students daily and they should imbibe good communication skills to deal with students effectively. He also motivated them to do their duties honestly and sincerely. Prof thanked the coordinators for successfully conducting the programme 
 
Capt. Kashmir Singh (Retd), Chief Instructor of this five-day training program, was also present. The focus of the training programme was on the overall professional development of the participants from the University Security.
 
The session ended with a formal Vote of Thanks by Sh Vikram Singh, Chief of University Security.

MASK AWARENESS DRIVE AT PANJAB UNIVERSITY CAMPUS

Chandigarh, November 27, 2021: NSS in collaboration with the Centre for Medical Physics organized the “Mask Awareness Drive” at Panjab University, Chandigarh.
Dr. Vivek Kumar, Chairperson, CMP, Dr. Naveen Kumar (UIAMS) participated in this programme and motivated people to wear masks. NSS volunteers also distributed masks to the people who had not worn the masks.
