Chandigarh, October 17, 2014: The Punjab Government today appointed Brig. (Retd.) JS Arora as the Director, Sainik Welfare with immediate effect.

Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s Office said that the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal cleared the file in this regard this morning.

It may be recalled that Brig. (Retd.) JS Arora was commissioned into Artillery Regiment in 1981 which he later commanded. On selection to General Cadre, he commanded an Infantry Brigade at ‘Dera Baba Nanak Sector’ in Punjab.  He during his 33 years of distinguished service held varied command and staff appointments which includes Col GS (operations) of a Division, Brigadier operational logistics of Kashmir Valley and Deputy GOC of a LC Division. Brig Arora was approved for the rank of Major General in Command stream, however retired due to lack of residual service. An alumni of Panjab University, he is a graduate of Defence Services Staff College and Higher Command course.  His vast experience in administration and management will give the necessary fillip to the ongoing welfare activities of defence services personnel.
