Dharamshala, October 17, 2014: BCCI joint secretary Anurag Thakur is in favour of punishing the Caribbean Cricketing Board for ditching BCCI by pulling out of their team in the middle of the current tour of India.
While speaking to this correspondent in the HPCA stadium at Dharamshala on Friday Thakur said, “BCCI must complaint to ICC and West Indian Board to meet the losses (financial or the other) of BCCI by this abrupt stoppage of the current tour.”
He said that beyond the compensation demand the ICC must also punish the West Indian Cricket Board for this low grade act. He was surprised by the act of West Indian Cricket Board, which came just before the next world cup. He said that the other cricketing bodies of the world shall think twice now before coming in some playing conditions and tours with West Indies. He said that West Indian Board must be punished.
Anurag said, “I came to know in the morning that West Indies is not playing in Dharamshala. I went at their hotel at 11.45 am and happy that they agreed to my request in 10 minutes.”
Anurag however thanked the West Indian Team for agreeing to play the 4th ODI at Dharamshala but felt bad for the other centers where the matches with West Indies were awaited. He also thanked the Sri Lankan Cricket Board for agreeing to send their team for 5 ODI to fill this gap.
