Jalandhar, February 19, 2024: Lovely Professional University (LPU), has announced that His Excellency, Mr Tony Abbott, Former Prime Minister of Australia, will grace its 11th Convocation as the Chief Guest on 25th of February.

28th Prime Minister of Australia,  Tony Abbott (Anthony John Abbott) is a distinguished statesman, scholar, and leader, who has served his country and the world with distinction and dedication. He holds a Bachelor of Economics and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Sydney, and a Master of Arts in Politics and Philosophy from Oxford University, where he was a Rhodes Scholar. He has pursued careers in journalism, business, and politics, before becoming the Prime Minister of Australia from 2013 to 2015. He is also the author of several books, including Battlelines, A Strong Australia, and The Minimal Monarchy. Former Australian PM will be honoured with LPU’s Honorary Causa Doctorate Degree, in recognition of his versatile undertakings for the general welfare of humanity, internationally.

The 11th Convocation of LPU will be a grand celebration of academic excellence and achievement, as thousand of students from across India and abroad will receive their degrees/diplomas for the completion of their respective programs. The Convocation will be held at the Baldev Raj Mittal Unipolis of the University, a state-of-the-art auditorium with a seating capacity of over 15,000. The Convocation will be for the batches of both regular and distance education students for the years 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023.

On this occasion, ‘Academic Medals’ will be bestowed upon top 343 meritorious students, who have excelled in their academic performance and co-curricular activities. Along With them, 83 gold medallists and 525 Ph.D. Scholars will be honoured in special. The Convocation will also witness the presence of eminent dignitaries, academicians, industry leaders, alumni, parents, and media. All the degree/diploma recipients are required to register for the Convocation ceremony to confirm their participation.
